whisky of the month
The whisky of the month is a whisky from the Aberlour distillery. "Casg Annamh" is Gaelic for "rare cask." A fairly new entry in the Aberlour lineup, a sister series to the well-known and well-received A'bunadh. This Non Age Statement single malt is matured in three cask types:European oak sherry casks and two sorts of American oak cask.
The packaging is similar to the core range of Aberlour, a nice carton Tube. This Aberlour is bottled at 48% ABV.
Our bottle states "Batch 0001", the first release in the series. This seems to indicate that thare are other batches to follow, simular to the Aberlour A'Bunadh range.
Nose: In the beginning quite a sharp nose...give it some time and it opens up to you... notes of grape and apple juice, honey, and hints of strawberry. developing to more raisins and dark fruit.
Palate: Sweet with rich honey , ginger and cinnamon.
Finish: A long finish with hints of spicy cinnamon and a slight bitterness.
Overall: This is a wonderfully sweet, relaxed, easy drinking whisky, compared to its sister A'bunadh. Would I buy another bottle once this one is finished....Yes I would, a true whisky of the month at WhisQy.com. Slainthe
