BUFFALO TRACE BOURBON WHISKEY
The Sazerac Company is a private company and the largest distillation company in the United States. In 2009 it was stated that bourbon is the core business of the company, but it also produces vodka, gin, liqueurs and wine. The headquarters is located in Metairie, Louisiana, but that is purely administrative. The company was founded in 1869 by Thomas C. Handy with the purchase of the Sazerac Coffee House. From there, Handy began the acquisition and marketing of more and more distilled brands. The name Sazerac would come from the name of a cocktail created by the Creole immigrant Antoine Peychaud in the mid-nineteenth century.
For the production of the current brands, Sazerac currently operates three distilleries, the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, the Buffalo Trace Blanton’s Distillery in Frankfurt and the A. Smith Bowman Distillery in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Well-known brands include Sazerac Rye
