The Benromach Distillery has released the latest addition to its Wood Finish portfolio with the launch of the limited-edition Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2010.
The single malt Scotch whisky combines Benromach’s smokiness with rich red wine flavours.
This whisky is matured in First Fill Bourbon barrels in the distillery’s traditional dunnage warehouses and then finished for over two years in Château Cissac wine casks.
These hand selected cask from the French wine region of Haut-Médoc near Bordeaux, gives the whisky a dark gold in colour.
The influence of the wine casks is immediately noticed on the nose.
You can taste sweet vanilla, pepper and creamy milk chocolate, some hints of red wine tannins and of course the distinct Benromach peat smoke.
Notes by Keith Cruickshank (Distillery manager): “Our latest Wood Finish is a welcome addition to our ‘Contrasts’ range of single malt Scotch whiskies.
All our Wood Finishes, including our Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2009 which we launched last year, have been really well received by whisky lovers around the world.
I’m confident that Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2010, with its unique and appealing characteristics, will be appreciated by new and existing Benromach enthusiasts.
At our distillery in Forres, we’ve always been unafraid to innovate, and we hope those who enjoy our flagship Benromach 10 Years Old will enjoy exploring our different finishes.”
